How long has Furniture Direct been in business?
Furniture Direct opened in 1991 and has provided the Hilton Head/Bluffton areas with the lowest prices in home furnishings for 23 years.
How many locations do you have?
We are an independently owned company with only one location.
What does Furniture Direct mean?
Our name came from the basic mission of our company which is to buy directly from the manufacturers cutting out any middle distribution levels which enables us to pass on direct cost savings to our customers.
What exactly do you do and how do you operate?
We are a full service furniture store that operates on a discount basis. We only sell new furniture at a discounted everyday low price. Our services include retail sales from our showroom floor ready for delivery, special orders from catalogs with many manufacturers to choose from or we offer a complete home or villa design and furnishing service that includes: floor covering, paint, wallpaper, window treatments, kitchen (housewares) setup, electronics, furniture, art and accessories, and bedding. What brands do you carry?
We carry a variety of major manufacturers and in many cases we are the largest volume store for those manufactures in our area. Check our web page for a list of manufacturers and make selections online by clicking on the logo.
Do you have a showroom or is everything special order?
We have a 10,000 square foot showroom at 12 Archer Road with a huge selection of bedroom, dining room, occasional tables, entertainment centers, sleep sofas, chairs, lamps, accessories, and the islands largest selection of framed art all at the absolute best price everyday. We offer catalog selections from a wide selection of vendors and we’re happy to order any items for you. Our 15,000 sq. foot warehouse is packed with furniture ready for delivery within a few days of purchase.
How long do special orders take?
Generally any order can be filled in a 4 to 6 week period. Special orders of upholstery usually take about 6 weeks with many items coming in sooner.
Can I take samples home?
Sure, you can checkout samples of fabrics or wood samples for 24 hours with a credit card number and phone number.
What are your payment terms?
We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, personal checks and cash. Financing is available. Special orders require a 50% deposit with balance due on the day of delivery.
What is your return policy?
Small accessory items such as lamps, pictures and plants are returnable within 30 days, as long as they are in new condition and accompanied by your receipt. Returns of in stock merchandise must be approved by management. Special orders are not returnable.
How does your pricing work?
At furniture Direct, the absolute lowest price is marked on every item in our store. The “discount” has been taken and you can always be sure you are getting the lowest price EVERYDAY. Patterned after the marketing concept of a wholesale club without the membership fees; you never have to worry about buying something today and it being on sale for a lower price tomorrow because EVERYTHING is on sale EVERYDAY. Buy a little or buy a lot, the best price is always marked.
Do you have a design service?
We offer onsite design services. Everyone on our sales staff has years of decorating/design experience and can assist you in achieving the look you desire. Visit our show room at 12 Archer Road; we’ll be happy to assist you.
Do you drop ship?
“White Glove” delivery is available outside of our delivery area for a fee.
Do you deliver? Is there a charge?
We offer delivery and setup to anyone in the Hilton Head/Bluffton areas. We believe in offering the absolute lowest price on all items in our store, so we do not “pack” or increase the price to cover delivery. Therefore, we do charge for delivery and most importantly setup and installation. We won’t just drop your merchandise off and leave. Our min charge is $35.00 for assembly/delivery/installation. Charges are based on the size of your delivery and the time it takes to complete the delivery and setup.
How do other places offer free delivery?
The one thing you learn quickly in life is that nothing is free. Most stores simply add the cost of delivery into the price. If you compare our landed and installed price to anyone else’s delivered price you’ll see what we mean. We do not artificially inflate the price of our items to include “Delivery” and our fees are very reasonable.
What days do you deliver?
We deliver Monday through Friday 8 Am till 4:30 PM. We do not deliver by appointment time but rather by morning or evening delivery runs that best route our trucks. Morning deliveries are generally between 9am and 12pm and afternoon deliveries are between 1pm and 4pm.
What if I can’t be there to accept my delivery?
Being located on a resort island with lots of investment properties, we deliver and install furniture everyday to properties where the owner is not present. Just give us the name and number of a property manager or contact person. We’ll pick up a key, make the delivery in your absence and promptly return the key. Our reputation for 23 years is impeccable. Our goal is to make everything as easy as it can be.
Can I pickup my items?
Yes, you can pickup any merchandise at our 12 Archer Road location with a 24 hour notice, or at our warehouse with proper notice.
Will you remove our old furniture?
We prefer to assist you in selecting a charitable organization that will pick up your items and provide you with a tax receipt. In order to get the tax receipt you must have the charitable organization collect the items. If that is not feasible for some reason we will gladly remove existing pieces that are being replaced at no additional charge. We are not a registered non- profit organization, therefore are not able to provide a tax receipt for your items.
